Autumn has arrived and has brought with it a bejewelled palette to brighten up our interiors.  Vibrancy is key this season and textured large motifs, whether traditional or stylised, are definitely of the moment.  In my opinion, majestic magenta will be crowned the Autumnal favourite for 2009, but other bold rivals, such as purple, lime and turquoise, could easily usurp her.  It is not so much about the colour, to get this seasons look right, it is more about the tone, and, in fact, a combination of two or several of these high-energy hues will keep you on track with trends.  For the traditional scheme consider sumptuous silks and woven velvet damasks with contrasting base cloths, and for those looking to create a contemporary feel incorporate architectural motifs mixed with plains.

The beauty of this autumn’s pallet is that it is actually great fun to play with; you can achieve a sophisticated feel with careful accenting and the sky’s the limit for those who love a slice of drama.

Certainly not everybody’s cup of tea, and if you can’t let go of your sublime and simple neutrals, then keep up to date with the current minks and taupe’s laced with bronze accents.

And for those who are still keen to join the more recent black and white revolution?  Well, who can blame you?  Get the balance right and stick to ‘jet’ black and whiter than white for the ultimate scheme.
